From August 17th-30th, Deidre and Aldy took me on a road trip to Texas Gulf Coast. The two days driving gave me a lot of new smells, new things to see, and new experiences. Texas is so large and so far from home, I thought I was in a different planet.
I say it's all worth the while when we arrived at Surfside Beach and lived next to the beach for a whole week. The beach water here taste different than the beach water at home, it's salty. I really enjoy my morning and evening walk, getting my paws wet, slurping salty water, and tasted some crunchy seashell.
During this one week stay, we also traveled to Galveston and Houston. As you can see in the pictures below, we took a stroll at the historic Galveston downtown. The weather was so hot in here, I had to take cover in shaded area every few minutes. In Houston, we went to downtown park near Convention Center.

On August 24, we got notice Hurricane Harvey was coming tomorrow and the entire Surfside Beach area would be closed. There's a short video in the gallery above showing the strong wind and storm surge as we did our last walk on the smaller beach. Early morning on the next day, we woke up early and drove north to Houston. We took a lunch break, then continued driving to San Antonio where we stayed for a night while Hurricane Harvey pounded the Texas Gulf Coast area.
I had so much fun in San Antonio. We went to an off leash dog park, we had a nice stroll at the River Walk, I got petted by a lot of people, I got a lot of compliments, I got my favorite treats for being a good boy while Deidre and Aldy had dinner. Hmmm... the River Walk smell delicious. Enjoy the San Antonio gallery below. Don't miss the video, it's my favorite.

The next day we drove south during heavy rain and strong winds. After 2 hours, the sky became clear and sunny for the next 3 hours of driving to South Padre Island. This island is connected by a 10 minutes bridge drive from Port Isabel. The next 5 days we lived again next to the beach. This area did not suffer anything from the Hurricane Harvey. My memory on this place was the salty water, big waves, crunchy seashells, hot weather, and gotten excited to see other dogs. I'm a friendly dog who loves to sniff all dogs that I see, as long as Deidre allowed me. Besides from the fresh smell of the ocean after Harvey, Deidre found lots of big seashell. She took some for gifts to friends and uses the 2 largest seashells as soap dish in the bathroom at home. Enjoy the South Padre Island gallery below.

I was sad when we had to leave, because I thought we were staying. But once I got home, I knew how much I had missed home. You can see me in the car for 2 days below.
